This standard application normally uses R407C, R22, R134a, R410A, or R717 refrigerants. Temperatures cover a wider range than air conditioning chillers, with higher temperatures and lower ΔT as other characteristic differences. Traditional technologies include Shell & Tube and Coil-In-Tank. Circulating (industrial) chillers transfer heat using the refrigerant cycle to cool or heat an industrial process or fluid. The main components in the refrigerant cycle are the evaporator, compressor, condenser, and expansion valve. In addition to the usual evaporator and condenser, the refrigerant cycle may also include heat exchangers in economizers, cascades, de-superheaters, sub-coolers, suction gas heat exchangers, and flooded evaporators.
Brazed plate heat exchangers (BPHEs) are mainly used for evaporators, condensers and heat recovery in industries such as plastic & rubber (plastic molding cooling), food & beverage, concrete manufacturing, medical and pharmaceutics.
